Bacterial reproduction

Bacterial reproduction

Bacteria are microscopic creatures that live everywhere – around us and inside us – and influence our lives for better or for worse. The rapid growth of bacteria allows the rapid spread of bacterial infections.

Students are asked to solve a medical case like a team of doctors: to diagnose and identify the type of bacteria that caused the infection in a patient who comes to the hospital for treatment. In the process, they learn how bacteria reproduce and how scientists use mathematics to build models that explain phenomena such as bacterial growth.
