During the global COVID19 epidemic, it became necessary to quickly test the entire population for infection with the virus that causes the disease. Hundreds of thousands of samples were tested on a daily basis. To this end, testing laboratories were quickly established and the additional laboratory workers were recruited worked day and night to respond to the need to perform many tests in a short period of time
Is there a way to optimize the laboratory tests of particularly large quantities of samples from the population? During the unit, students are exposed to the ways in which tests are pooled (tested together) into a single test, and matrices (tables) are analyzed to decipher the results. Pooling the tests shortens stages in the test and makes it possible to skip tests that are clearly not positive for the virus
